Limping home

Went to a friends house and on the way back noticed the pinz struggling to stay on...at the stop signs it would stall and although start could hardly get out of its own way...I took some backroads with no stop signs or lights in an effort to get her home and deal with the problem in the morning. I kinda figured the spark plugs were fouled as I had expierienced this in the past on the #1 cylinder. When I removed the plug everything seemed fine so I examined the wires connections etc...then noticed the carb was coming apart and there was a 1/8 inch gap between the carb body and its base. I had heard that this was a common issue in the pinz and that it is a good idea to check for this everytime you have the engine cover off. I removed the carb tightened the screws which all fell out upon removal of the carb. Shes running fine now!!!! but thought I would post as a cautionary to all the new members out there. Check the carbs by removing the air cleaner grabbing the carb in your hand pull up and down and twist side to side, any movement is trouble about to happen. I have heard that if this is not caught soon engine destruction will be the result

Yeah, I always grab the carbs (as a habit) whenever I'm removing the engine cover. Also look at the carb bases for gray colored residue that forms when there is a leak too.
