How noticeable is pinking/pinging?

Playing with my MegaJolt ignition setup on my Pinz at the moment and I've read a lot about avoiding pinging/pinking but what does it sound/feel like so I can recognise it?
System is awesome, by the way, engine starts much better and drives fine even with basic ignition map

I usually go a coupla degrees advanced over stock in Summer,and around 4 degrees in the winter,no problems in 5 yrs.
