As most of you know I don't care for any of the front entry steps that are currently available. What some may not know is that last year I made a prototype of an entry step which some of you have been using. I have received enough feedback to make a refined version. The two complaints I received from the prototype were the step was too small/slick (might be considered two complaints) and the second was it was difficult to store. I have fixed both of these issues, so here is what I hope to be the final result. Yes the bottom step folds up so it is out of the way when stored in truck on the mount I also made for it.

Looks like a viable solution to an ongoing problem that I have. I'm sure that my wife would appreciate an addition like that. If you should decide to produce something like that for sale, please let me know. Thanks in advance.

I like the idea however I would envision a passenger trying to shut the door on it. :idea: If a thin steel cable (thin enough that it would “lay down” if the door is shut on it) were used for the handle it may prevent damage to the truck body and door. I do think it has benefits over the other steps I’ve seen.

there is a learning curve for the passenger or driver. I think the original had a door tried to be shut once. No damage other than to the ego of the one trying to shut the door. Even if a cable were used the support going out gets in the way. I know that every other step out there has caused some severe damage to trucks, far more than simply shutting the door on this step. I have seen four of the hoop steps ruin the floor pan, one of them was even removed when the damage occurred. I realize that the other steps are only a problem for those who get their trucks in a little more extreme situations than most but I kind of fall into that category with both of mine.

If there is enough interest I most certainly would make more steps. I already have two more to make for local guys.

Some one asked how I kept the angle iron from slipping off the inside of the door jam. Simple I don't use angle iron. I use some "J" metal that fits snug on the inner ridge of the door jam

Perfect for one legged horse riders, too. Chester from the old Gun Smoke series comes to mind.
He rode with one leg stretched out and didn't need the other stirrup.

I actually made a very similar item but man you could not get into your truck if you had a few. Those things get to swinging pretty good if you are the least bit tipsy. The other idea was similar to large equipment, where a couple of stiff cables hold a step but they would rub the tire as there is not enough relief.

I have one of those Jeep stirups in my garage. What a disaster, they swung under the Jeep unless you had rock bars installed and then what do you need another step for?

A few that have been powder coated. I would think the red one would help with those who have short term memory loss to remember to remove before closing door.

What about simply using two hooks and a chain?

im really happy with it so far took alot of trial and error it supports me and im 240-260lbs
