Cyl #1 dead?

help me with my logic here. I have a miss with my 710 that I've always felt was the carbs. i pulled out my temp gun and fired on the headers. Cy; 1 was 140, cyl 2-4 were 540. So it looks like #1 isnt firing. Pulled plug, its black, but not full of crud at all. I cleaned it quickly and put it back in. Compression shows at higher than 120 and i have spark at the spark plug wire.

Has to be the #1 carb isnt supplying fuel correct? Clogged jet?

sounds more like a bad plug or broken plug wire that happened to make contact when you moved it to check it.

possibly a bad plug. Simple test there. Will do

From experience either carb functioning alone will run the engine and get you out of trouble; so you can certainly rule out a Carb problem. I'd focus on plug, wire or distributor connection to #1 cyl.

Yup, carb was fine. Dead spark plug was the culprit
