Oil dripping from exhaust manifold stud

I've always had a problem with oil leaking out of the manifold stud on cylinder 4 (the stud closest to the chassis). When I took my manifolds off the other day, found that some bozo had jammed a 10mm stud in there, obviously not realising the cylinder head had Helicoil inserts in it. I replaced the insert and fitted an M8 stud. However, it's still leaking quite badly - should this be stopped by the gasket (new) or is the head punctured in some way?

Is the drip from the stud directly or could it be the oil return line has a bad seal and the oil gets blown onto the manifold?

Directly from stud - you can see it dripping

Sounds like the previous owner drove the oversized stud through the head into the lifter area. My heads are already reinstalled otherwise i could check to see if that actually possible. The lifter area has oil pumped into it and it returns through the lower tube. Tube seals can leak that is why I asked about the exact location of the leak.
