i am taking delivery of a 74 710 m and am curious about new tires and rims, i heard something about tires slipping the bead on stock rims, also would like to put new tires on. i live in new mexico and will be out in both the mountain terrain, and sand. what tires are best for this?
thanks all
have a great day!

For sand you don't want an overly agressive tread as you'll just dig neat holes. A sand tread shouldn't be too bad on rocks either.
The tyre slip issue usually occurs on under inflated tyres. Keep the pressures sensible and you'll be fine.

Hi, I guess the best research is yourself, but here is a site that will help you determined your choice.

I bought the Federal Couragia due to its ratings and fair price.

Has anyone run Nitto Mud Grapplers? what did you think of them? how was the noise, and the wear on the tire. were you able to fit them on the stock rims? how did they do both on the street, and in mud, sand, and trails?
thanks all
have a wonderful day

I'm using Dunlop Radial Mud Rovers. Got them at Discount Tire during a good sale. Where in NM are you located?

Best tires? The best tires come in the best you can find in your price range. Im sure we could find you some really great run flat tires designed for the US military. Might cost ya 8 grand though.
In my opinion, the treadwright retreads are the best bang for the buck in Pinzgauer tires. E rated with walnut shells if you run on rocks, without walnut shells in every other situation

Arizona, Colorado and Utah are next door. How long do you want for your trip?
Come up to the Treffen in CO at Ouray July 20 thru 24. Several of the AZ folks
will be there as well.
Sorry to hear about the fires.

there is quite a sizable collection of pinz owners within a couple hours of you.
I second the trip to Ouray. I have talked several of the guys into taking their trucks up there. It was one of my first RMP treffens and I was talked into it by other AZ owners. Have not missed one since.

The Rio Puerco valley, west of Rio Rancho has some good wheeling areas. Probably the closest area to where you are.

I,m running Goodyear G90 in 7.50R 16 and they are ideal for the wet clay in my area. Used on military Landrovers in UK and on Tarpan Honkers in Poland, good on road at up to 60MPH never been faster so don,t know after that. The G90 is a very agressive tyre but I find that it has superb road manners, I used them on Landrovers before the Pinz and you know what.....if I could get them in Big Truck sizes I would put them on my Unimog, I,m that impressed.
