Spark advance question

Post by Pols497 »

I am in the process of installing a new civilian cap on my 712 the and I thought I would check and see if rubber/plastic hose was clear that connects on the bottom of the distributor around to the other side of the engine and found it was stopped up. My question is could this be a vent hose or vacume line?

That is a vacuum line to help keep moisture out of the distributor. It does have a small valve (like a ball bearing) in it to restrict airflow.

The Pinz distributor is mechanical advance only.

Thank you. Mine has a small carb jet in it that was stopped up with crud.

That's why I installed electronic ignition (Megajolt) on my Pinz as the distributor kept causing problems.

As it happens, think the major issue is elsewhere but no more worries when it's a bit damp
