About a year ago or so there was a post by a guy who built a front bumper with winch platform. He had pictures and material specs ..it was a really nice instructive post...but I cant find it. Anyone know where it is ? my searches don't find it.

I had the hole cut for the pin access.

I'd like to get an EI bumper as well - it looks good! Did you cut the hole in the bumper to retain the pin access, or does EI do that? Where did you get the mesh headlight guards?

I had a metal shop in San Diego cut the hole and weld light weight metal all around to keep out the road debris.
Got the mesh guards from Knuckledown. The 'kit' comes with fasteners to attach the guards top and bottom. I
only attached them at the top so I can lift them to clean the light lens, otherwise there is no room to get my hand
in there for cleaning.

I bought different bolts to fasten the bumper instead of the stock bolts that held the stock two piece bumpers. I
also drilled and tapped holes to attach the spot lights as the bumper is 1/4'' thick metal and takes a tap well. The
holes for the mounting bolts are filled with plastic caps from mailing tubes to keep out 'stuff'' from the trail.

When I had the trailer I made a front hitch from 3'' angle and a pintle hitch from a surplus store. Putting the lunette
into the hole where the pin is did not allow much turning radius for the trailer. Sometimes it was better to 'push' the
trailer than pull it when camping in a tight spot.

Scott is out of the bumper business unless he gets enough orders to have another batch made....I was trying to get one of Scotts which is how I found he was out so call Scott and tell him you are interested in getting a bumper !!!!

SAV has original Pinz one-piece bumpers with guard for sale. Anybody have experience with these? Are they strong enough for a tow bar, winch, etc? Here's the link.

Thilo Kass in Prescott, AZ may still have some of his well built front bumpers. I had one on my 710 and it was very well made.

Two questions for you;

Where did you source the Amphenol connectors? I have never seen them that size.

I can see that one is for power to the winch, but what is the one that is capped?

Also, where did you get the connector box for the winch remote?

It cost more then the winch! The second plug is just an extra cover so when the winch is removed you dont foul the plug with dirt. I made the connector box. Trying to keep it looking stock whill adding features.

I picked up a new Plasma cutter a few weeks ago after getting my Superwinch from Scott at IE. Decided it was time to make a front bumper.
Decided to use 1/4 plate.

I also picked up one of the 24v Humvee aux air compressors and tank. I plan on making a rear bumper and installing them in it.
For the rear bumper I need some help, with ideas on how to make the swinging tire mount. Do people make this out of tubing, as in wending a stub in the bumper and slipping a smaller tube inside to swing out? Or is it best weld in a seat and install a set of bearings?

You may think about inverting the vertical fairlead roller bolts, in the unlikely event you lose one of the nuts the bolt and roller would be less likely to disappear on the road.
