carb sync tool......?

i just got this tool from EI, and im not sure about how to use it, but my concern is how to fit it on the carb, cause the rubber piece on the tool is too small to seal the air flow in the carb.. should i build a different part to fit this tool on top of the carb??? or it doesnt matter if the tool doesnt cover the carb complete air inlet ????

It should fit somewhat snuggly. In the event of a backfire, it needs to be able to blow off, lest you damage the tool. On the tool I use, the adaptor is made of some kind of rubber. You might want to check with your supplier. I'm surprised they didn't include something, and maybe it was simply forgotten. ??

Ok , so EI didnt send me the right adaptor for my carb, im have to improvise my own!

Ok, i did my own adaptor, one carb reads 7 an the other 9 , is this a significant difference?? Should i mess with the idle or mix screws??, my truck hesitate on leaving from idle, but i want to believe is a dirty carb than mess with screw adjust, i will appreciate your comments......

My understanding is that they match...very close. Jim did a post on doing this and it would be good to go through it. Do a search.
9 is better than 7 for both of them.
edit: that's what I was told is good...whatever, they should match.

Normally if a customer has a problem with an order they will say something to us.........
Your carb Sync was shipped with 2 separate rubber ends. One fits the 36NDIX perfectly, the other is for a different carb. Please post up a picture of what you received and check your box. My guess is you are either trying to use the 2 pieces together without separating them, (thats how they nest when shipped) or they came apart in the box.
7, 9, 10, 15 - Means nothing. What you are looking for is to match the airflow thru the 2 carbs to the same. By adjusting the rubber base of the sync unit you can make these numbers go up or down based upon the airflow holes. Set your idle then adjust the individual linkages so that they are the same to what you have set.
