Their arr a hole lot moor Pinzgauers around then Volvos. (Sorry, I couldn't resist) Then again, the Volvos use pretty common engines and stuff.

I haven't driven a Volvo offroad, so I can't speak for the differences that way. But if I owned it, and wanted to use it offroad etc., then I think a Pinz wins simply because there are probably more new and used parts available.

Just my 2 cents.

My mom was a speech therapist. I don't want to be a prude about things, but I do notice misspellings. Totally no offense intended. Hopefully none taken.
Cheers All.

They both have their ups and downs.

Also, you need to consider the 4x4 and 6x6 versions as well. :D

Once I'm done restoring my TGB-13, I may want to pick up a 710 pinzgauer (or 716 if they're more available at that point).

Damn these things are addicting. :(

BleedGreen.

Go with the Pinzgauer - done, that was easy.

As you're in Belliare, MD, I may need some advice from you in a month as I will be looking for a steamed crab place as we'll be up that way for a lacrosse tournament in July!

Are you staying in Baltimore City, or one of the surrounding counties?

Near Aberdeen. Someone suggested Price's. Other ideas in that area Hon (term of endearment for folks in those parts)?

My experience in dining in Aberdeen--cracking crabs or otherwise--is limited, but I do have friends who will know. Back to you soon.

I was told if you are in the Aberdeen area, you should check out Woody's Crab House in North East, Maryland, for cracking open some steamers. This came from two longtime fishermen who I consider experts in the crabbing. (One has local books published.) Neither knew Price's, but that still might be a good option. One is more familiar with the eastern shore and the local writer wrote Price's name down as he takes pride in knowing EVERYthing crabs.

Of course, you could buy some live jimmies and I could help you steam them (and eat them), haha.

The forecast is 2012 should be one of the best years in recent memory, too. Good luck.

I'll have at least 50 and perhaps 100 folks along with me for this lacrosse tournament in July so us sitting around the hotel parking lot eating steamed crabs ain't happening. Thanks for the leads in the area.

Enough non-Pinzgauer discussion.

OK...off crabs and onto Volvos...

I rode in a 303 several years ago at NWMF and was impressed with road speed, tilt open windshield for the driver and the room inside.
Seemed to be very good at avoiding trees but, that had a lot to do with the drivers ability.
There are probably a few engines that would fit (just a guess) and a Volvo engine is not too difficult to find but, don't know about the other
parts and their ease of acquisition.

I would like to have one but what to do with the pinz?

Happy trails

I have a 6x6 Pinz and 6x6 Volvo. If I were to sell one,it would be the Pinz, mind you it took some time to get the V in shape..

Well I have to say that my C303 impressed me quite a bit yesterday. I was a bit leary on how it would do compared to my 712M with 6x6. My truck has a good combination of tires and clearance so that I was in no way really lacking in traction or articulation. The power was good and seemed to be there when I needed it. Now this was much tougher trail than I had taken the pinz on. and with a line of 404's, 406's(unimogs) a mini mog, and a 710K I just kept it in 4lo never really needing to go any quicker. The lo is not a slow crawling gear but sufficiently low enough that I crawled threw most everything and just used the lockers on the big slick rocks and very large trees. My first tough part I had the truck up on 3 wheels and after that first minor scare I didn't have any other problems. That one spot also had a unimog very close to going over as well. I followed behind a 710K. He was off camber with 1 wheel in the air a bunch and at one point I had to go past him and winch him up a slick spot. I won't say the pinz wasn't as capable as it was the drivers first time off road and his tires were lack some tread in the rear. The off camber situation with a wheel in the air teeter tottering doesn't make for the best learning vehicle and I'd say you get that a bit more in the pinz but it isn't problem with a little experience and forethought on line of approach. With Volvo I found it hard to find a really difficult line. I do miss how narrow the pinz is(so do my mirrors) but the volvo isn't that much wider but it was taller as well and I had to lift some trees that the pinz just drove under.

Overall I'd say they are really close in capabilities. I really like the power of the volvo a bit better and I like the seating topless configuration of my 1111 better but miss that passenger/cargo capacity of the pinz.
