Hi all,
Kinda new here but been reading lots. Picked up my 712AMB back in January from Pinzgauer Canada and drove it home to Barrie, ON with insurance. About a week later my insurance broker called me to say that my rates were going up and because I didn't agree to it I could cancel without penalty if I wished. As I was really only looking for summer insurance or 6 months driving with 6 months storage, I cancelled it.....BIG MISTAKE!! I am now being asked to jump through ever hoop imaginable and other than facility or high risk insurance they are saying that nobody will take me. So, my question to those of you out there with Pinzgauers particularily in Ontario Canada who are you using? I just noticed one of you said you were with CAA any others I should try? All suggestions greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Josh

Do you have a 100% clear driving record?
Have you asked Karl?

My driving record isn't perfect but my broker said that that wasn't the issue but rather the rarity of the vehicle. I did also talk with Karl and he suggested Silver Wheels which I learned is part of Hagerty which my broker tried to put me with but was then told no. I did however read tonight that I should perhaps try contacting Hagerty directly as sometimes brokers don't always try too hard. Anyhow, I'll keep pushing forward and let everyone know how things turn out in the end. I was just curious what other companies people here were using.

I am not in your neck of the woods, but I use Hagarty.

Hargerty is fine, but you need to have a principal vehicle for each person in the household before you can get silver wheels insurance. They all work the same. For example, I have an 07 Honda Civic, my 72 Pinzgauer and a 62 Dodge panel truck. My pinzgauer has to be on regular insurance, because it has to be listed as my principal vehicle. My 62 is with Aviva elite (same as Hagerty).
Hope that makes sense. I use Aviva insurance for my Pinzie, which is through CAA.

I'd go with Progressive if they do business in your part of the world.

I only asked because my insurance (for a Mog and Hafi) will only take you if your record is 100% clean.
I pay $180/year for the Mog and $119/year for the Hafi for full coverage no restrictions.
Sorry

Update on insurance woes...I finally got insurance through Silver Wheels as suggested, thanks guys! I originally wasn't going to bother with them as I was told that they were a branch of Hagerty which I had already been turned away from. I then read on here that sometimes it really just comes down to the agent that you deal with - was that ever true here! Within 10 minutes on the phone and a few faxed documents I was sent my temporary slip and within a week all my papers were at my door. I would highly recommend Lant and the Silver Wheels program to anyone on here needing insurance Ontario. So, I'm just driving my Pinz as much as possible now and loving every minute of it!

I'm definitely game for that! Somebody suggest a time and place and I'll do my best to be there. That was another reason for buying this truck to meet interesting new people with similar interests.
