I think we should get Dave Dunn to buy their tooling and spares and then he and Jim LaGardia can get into the business of building new Pinzgauer!

There's a guy who did it with Delorean cars, Dave can do it with our favorite Austrian mil-spec vehicle...right?

completely agree!

between Dave/Scott/Jim/Tony/Dennis/Wily/Prof this could really be a done deal!

Thankfully - I am not far from 'the future company' constituents

Proof that Sacramento is slow.... most of us knew about Pinzgauer1 a few years back

There are only 2 ways for us to start up Pinzgauer in the US
1) Do the same as they did in the UK and get the government to subsidized it, OR
2) Show me a room with Facebook investors!

#1 is probably easier..at least since 2010..
#2 is pretty difficult to recreate..if not impossible.

and my 710 and 712 have been gone 9 years...

Now I'm waiting to start on my JUMP dump truck...Jumbo Uber Mega Pinzgauer  ... amazing what the US military will squeeze out the rear of a plane in flight

Krap, I was trying to go smaller, and ended up with a truck that 4 tires weigh as much as my Haffy!

My understanding from various sources is that whilst BAE stopped production of the 716/718 Pinzgauer in the UK in 2008, they have left the option in place to restart production (of a "third" generation Pinzgauer), albeit in their plant in South Africa, IF a buyer/military wanted them.

Unfortunately "soft skins" and light forward controls are not the flavour of the month with militaries at the moment given their vulnerabilities in current fighting situations.

Actually what I had heard was that BAE had approached Dave Dunn about establishing a Southern California location so that current generation Pinzgauers could be manufactured and equipped with surfboard racks then deployed along the PCH from San Diego to Santa Barbara.

That rumor and the one of my demise have been greatly exaggerated.
I have expressed interest as the sole southwest US distributor of the Supacat Jackal.
As is known, there is an increasing need for a family armored sport utility vehicle (FASUV) in the southwest, and the Jackal is good choice to protect your family from random shootings, road rage shootings and IEDs (aka, the roads themselves).
And for the later, I am alive and not an artificial semi-intelligence in a lab in Livermore... I am alive... I am alive... I am alive I am...

Hey Dave, you should come out to Oz, Supacat here are advertising for engineers, maybe you could wrangle a job working on the new Aus Army vehicles and score some spare parts all at the same time! :D
....you might even be able to convince them to fit that wood panelling and the surfboard racks.

Hey mate, how's your new project coming along?
A engineer, that would be a great job for me... what kind of locomotive? Do they ride on the wrong side too? :?
It would probably the only way I'll get a Jackal.... one piece at a time

And it may not be a good thing if I can convince them of the idea of "ballastic wood"
