For 250K I'd rather pay off the house and get an old 404 and revamp it.

404's slow on the road, gas engine that is all but worthless, no creature comforts in the cab and the poor passenger better only have one short leg. I'd take the 500 anyday.

They are not that slow
Depends on the road - if your wanting to drive on the highway then yes but back roads and through town my 404 drives like a regular truck.
Same with my Hafi - it will cruise all day at 40mph and in many environments I am passing people
Guess it all depends on where your driving and what your using it for.
Now if you you want to talk about Mog stink...

Yeah, I kind of feel the same way about the Pinz; you only consider it slow if you have the expectation of using the freeway. If you take the back highways, which are more scenic and relaxing anyway, you really are just as fast as anybody else. The only real problem I have is when I get in the high hills of the Ozarks fully loaded, I'm putting it all the way down to second gear on some of those hills on a 55 mph highway, but that's no matter, usually there isn't another vehicle for miles.

metro Phoenix, az if you are not doing 20 over the speed limit they run you off the road. Considering it is easily an hour and a half of city/highway driving to get out of town I need to be able to do at least 60mph.
