OVO Spring Fling

Well, after my faux clutch issue, I was able to attend my club's main event of the season. I could only do one day of a four day event ( Victoria Day Weekend in Canada), as my wife's BDay is tomorrow.
It was about a 60 minute trip to the camp ground, a Hydro Dam campground near Calabogie, ON. The run I chose to do was one they considered stock friendly, as I was also scouting some Ural runs. The run was down and around a Hydro cut. There were quite a few jeeps, Zuks, and one GWagon. The G was the trail leader.
Here are some pics:
Starting out...

Guy in the Taco forgot to lock his front and got stuck immediately:

...con't
It is hard to tell, but the way down the cut was quite steep. I really need to learn to let the engine brake for me. I had a real pucker moment when I thought I was going to tip on an off-camber, steep left turn. I hit the clutch and the truck rolled out of it. The Rubicon behind me thought I was done! You can just see it the spot below the tower...

On the way back we came across this Zuk. Initially I thought he hit the tree....

....but on closer inspection, he drove up a stump to change a rear flat!

Well, I had a great day. My "skills" and comfort level with the truck are much better now. I also realized that I need new shocks, and a 24v Viair system is on my must have list.

Jealous!!
Bugs suck ESP when hot and in an old vehicle with no AC - time to make slip on mesh windows!
Looks like a big turn out too

Actually, I had the windows on, so bugs weren't bad in the cab. Mesh would have been great if the window tops were off. I will recommend some kind of mesh hat for August. You get swarmed when not driving.
Some guys kept asking me if the truck would overheat when i told them it was air-cooled....a lifted Cherokee did!!

I have had a 12V Viair for years. Got it to use on the Mog. It it fits great in a 50 Cal ammo box (known as a fat 50) keeps it clean and ready. Also put gloves, safety glasses and a few spare parts in there. Keeps everything in one place in the tool box. Did not get the 24V as I could not find one back then. For the short time it is in operation using one battery is no issue.

Hey Morris.
So you got one that could be run without a tank? Many of their models require the tank.

Yes. There is no tank. I had very few options for shopping for off road vehicle parts. Got this one at what I will call a 'J**p' store, 4 wheel parts in San Diego.
Sometimes when I went in for something I would have to have the clerk actually go out to the parking lot to view the pinz as they had no idea what I was
talking about when I said that they did not have this one in their books for referencing parts or items.
Tried to get limiting straps once...the kind used on sand buggies, to keep as a spare. It was more complicated than I thought to attach them, but it can be done
in an emergency situation.
