Which way is up for the butterflies?

I see one side has a small pin hole off to the side of the central axis. Which way does this face? Up / down? Towards the choke or away?

Thank you, but nope. Doesn't help. I assumed they were balanced but it appears its not the fact. This diagram doesn't indicate which way is up (there is a pin hole on one side)

As I recall, the edges of the butterflies are angled so they seal before being completely flat. It's hard to explain, but imagine a shallow sloped roof with fascia(edge) vertical. If its flipped over it won't seal right.
I have some pictures here, but I cat see the holes...

On the right track.
In my best Scotty voice - "Damn it Jim, I'm a sales guy not a pinzgauer mechanic."
This is a specific one that I'm afraid only Jim can answer.

Depends on the base type. MK1 and MK2 bases have large external screw and the dot is on top facing the idle screw ports.
MK3 small idle screw have a machined area that faces up towards the idle screw ports, dot on bottom facing away from idle ports.
