Hey Guys.

I wanted to setup the GoPro for my run tomorrow, and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a location to mount it? I just have the sticky mounts, and the extra long mount arm. What do you think?

You mean mounted over the rub rails? Which side? Is it a good view?

This is one of his - I like the pov but looks higher than rub rails, perhaps upper rear roll bar?

I apoxied on a 70lb Neodymium magnet to a go pro base. Even in the toughest trail riding the camera stays put.
Where I place it depends, sometimes on the front winch, sometime on the bulk head, or the light bar. With a magnet it only has to be metal.

Can you get Go Pros where the video does not look as if you are looking through a fish bowl. I would have thought that given their high price their lenses would be a bit better.

I am wanting to get something similar but the fish eye effect has put me off.

I had a great run today...and used the GoPro mounted right on the nose above the SDP Logo. You cannot see the truck, but interesting perspective. Editing and uploading now...

GoPros don't have a focus or a zoom feature so they HAVE to have a fisheye lens. All POV type cameras work this way. It's the only way to keep everything in focus and in view.

I find the lens' on the GP makes 16:9 aspect that much better.

Thanks - they could change the lens and keep everything in focus without the fisheye view but the field of view would be less.

I guess that GoPro and others need to match cheap digital camera technology with the unique technology they have to produce something that doesn't have curved pics. If I mount my $90 digital camera on the dash I can produce pretty good pics but I doesn't have all the unique features of dedicated dash cams.

Theses cameras are meant for this sort of thing. While not without issue, the audio recording is also much better. My wife used to hold a waterproof/ shockproof digital camera in the tub of my Ural and record video. The sound was not usable as it was all wind. That is not an issue with these purpose built camera. Another issue was the sound and destabilization the zoom on the digital camera would impart on the video.

With a magnet anywhere is possible in a Pinz. I also have glued a magnet onto my GPS.

I like that. Videos must be similar to the one I shot in those locations?

I am heading out with 12 rear passengers for the weekend. We are going gold panning in the north cascades. So on the drive out I will use it like this. Always fun to see your riders reactions when taking the difficult trail.
