Looks like the same stuff that heats MRE's. Didn't see anything about cost, did I miss it?

yeah I would guess it is the same
I did not see cost but did find this one online:
$25 includes the kit and 10 heat pods

Perhaps army surplus is even cheaper?

Looks to be a great thing to add to the bug-out bag or for the emergency prep kit for your house or car.

been in Arizona too long. All I could think of was "so what it is called solar cooking" Then to find out that it is the chemical reaction causing the heat.

Hmmmm. Has anyone tried any "manifold" cooking with a Pinz? If the heat exchanger could open up, you could put some burritos inside!

Now there is an idea for some fabricator to capitalize on. Should probably be made out of stainless for easy clean-up.

Cooking on the engine is a skill I learned in the army. We would use the top of motor on a 113 personnel carrier.
The hot pouches that are plug into the 24 accessory plug that was designed for MREs also is a great way to cook in your truck. They are realitvly cheap on the surplus sites.

The pouches will require a plug modification to work in a pinz, I believe. Mine did.

I was chatting to a Russian trucker way back in the 70's......he had a stainless steel box with a lid which clamped onto his exhaust pipe up near the engine.....It would cook stew, pies in fact anything that could be fitted into the box.
