Thanks to pcolette, edzz, krick3tt, pinz710m2 and, Buzz for their advise on what to look for when purchasing a Pinz. I put a deposit on this one.

Now, does anyone know what that little panel door next to the gas cover is and, what is that little pipe sticking out of the exhaust??

Interesting truck. Not Swiss. Probably not Austrian. Yugoslavian? Venezuela?

This is a complete guess... I was told by an ex yugo pinz driver that they added "heat risers" to keep the intakes from freezing, but I've never seen one. It was described to me as using about 1/4" copper tubing and wrapping it around the exhaust and up to the intakes and around them as well. I understood the copper was just conducting heat, not moving gasses though. Take this with a grain of salt, as I don't know the guy...he just came up and started telling about the yugo pinzes and then wandered off...

The pipe coming out of the header pipe look to be made of copper plumbing fittings, don’t know why one would add it.
Haven’t seen a 710K with the small door on the right side could be for antenna cable or power cable pass-through.

I also haven’t seen
-the type of antenna mount that is on the right side behind drivers window (being used on a Pinzgauer)
-the brackets by the windshield hinges
-the thing protruding above the Steyr placard on the front of the truck
-also interesting is the use of fuses on the dash of a truck having a one piece windshield
-the smaller front turn signal lights
-the black-out lights? Under the front turn signal lights
-the missing rub rails

The antenna mount looks to be similar to the type used on radio Mogs. I had one and still have some of the protection rails for the roof antenna mounts.
The cover plate with chain is twisted on the other circle to keep from loosing it when the antenna mount is being used, 'course this is only info from my radio Mog, pinzies may differ.

It is Yugo/Serbian, and what is also odd is that the interior has paneling. Now what you said about the exhaust is very interesting, what intakes are you talking about??

Edzz, I don't know if they are convoy position lights. The civilian owner in Serbia had this painted this weird green color, should have just left it military. Also I was told by the importer that when they demil these they take out everything, hence the lack of shovels, cables, etc. He also added that the people doing the demil probably just "took" the stuff. He as another 710k and a 710m for sale. Knonw where I can get the rub rails?

My suggestion for the rub rails is to make them from Trex decking as that stuff will never rot or come apart. I made mine from 2 x 3/4 channel steel. Indestructible. (I hope)

Never thought of that, did you use the decking or the rails? Was it hard to drill or cut?

The tubing would run up to the intake manifolds below the carbs and wrap around them to transfer heat. The carbs are known to ice-up when its really cold. I've heard stories of them stalling when driving into tunnels during winter The warmer, more humid air in a tunnel ices up when hitting the cold carbs and intakes.

Makes sense. I'm probably going to need a new muffler so that will probably come off with it. It probably will get too hot down here in SE Florida for that.

Do you think it would take alot of work to run the exhaust behind the rear tire instead of under the lert rear door?

I just posted about re-doing my exhaust- and its pretty easy except for accessing some of the nuts on the exhaust header. You might be able to chop off that junk and re-use the header. Grab one of EI's stainless mufflers that exits directly toward the rear and then have a muffler shop run the pipe to the rear. Replace the flex connection too.

It looks like the one in EI just exits to the side. Being new to this, where is the flex connection?

Currently the top post in "Engine" forum- viewtopic.php?f=12&t=8908 They made a small batch that exit to the rear.
