Second jerry can mounting

I wanted to add a second jerry can to my 710m. It was a very easy modification:

1) Spare can: http://www.ebay.com/itm/221333999477

2) Additional fuel can holder from SAV (part 7131640100): http://www.pinzgauer.com/showdetails.ph ... 131640100/

3) T- braces, stainless screws, washers, nuts, and lock washers

The new fuel holder must be mounted about 1.5" lower, and "inboard" about 1.5" from the original holder. This is needed to allow the original holder's lower latch to open cleanly without hitting the new holder. I used fairly simple T-braces from the hardware store -- using 2x braces for each side, and 3x screws per brace. In other words, the lower holder is secured with 4x total braces and 12x bolts/nuts.

* Place a jack under the fuel tank before removing the original jerry can holder * I'm not sure if 2x bolts on the forward side of the fuel can holder are actually holding up the main fuel tank -- but the jack certainly helps keep everything aligned for easy re-installation.

Now, I need to work that shine/sheen off the new tank! Its too clean ;)

I was going to mention to you that the spouts might be better turned to the inside to prevent theft but since you don't lock them anyway it's a mute point.
Good installation though. A few trips in the mud should take that sheen off. :D

Yes that really does look good and it looks stock which is huge in my book. Thumbs up!

I did have a pic of a Pinz and the guy went all out on cans.
