I was looking on Vinces site about the specs.

One thing concerns me. The specs say 97 octane for fuel.

Now I realize that these manuals were written long before the EPA took a strangle hold on our fuel supply, to say nothing of the Saudis, BUT 97 OCTANE? And that was when we could still get LEADED, right?

So, what octane fuel do you use?

Also, the specs show MAX SPEED as 125 km/h (78 mph) and a Max Cruising Speed 100 km/h (62 mph).

So, what are your REAL NUMBERS. Does anyone drive a TGB 13 6x6 who can give me realistic numbers. Thanks

I have a TGB13 and with the stock tires(34") it would drive comfortably at 50mph then I installed 1100R16 Michelin XLs(38"), now it will drive comfortably at 60mph. I use a Delorme GPS to calculate these speeds.

I was reading through old postings and noticed your questions regarding the seemingly impossible Octane requirement for the your truck. I ran into the same info when looking at specs for my '63 Volvo P1800 (uses the 4 cyl, 1.8 liter version of your engine). The difference is how the Europeans and Americans calculate Octane ratings. In the USA the AKI (anti knock number is used). AKI is calculated by adding the RON and MON number and dividing that by 2 (get the average). In Europe the RON tends to get used which can be 8 to 10 points higher than MON. Therefore 97 octane is more like 93 octane rating here in the USA... premium gasoline, but certainly not racing fuel.

Sorry I didn't post the fuel I use. I use 93 octane and run a lead additive. Any lower octane and it pings pretty bad.
