That's funny!

The front somehow resembles a Land Rover front, IMHO, and the Camel Trophy (I believe) badge on the front would perhaps point that way too. ??

Seeing as it is from South America, i would say it uses a Landrover forward control chassis with a locally produced body on top.

It looks like a Swiss MOWAG.
Produced 1945 +, Dodge 6 cylinder.

Certainly loos like a Mowag!! That Camel Trophy Badge may indicate that truck was used when the Camel Trophy came to south america in 1994, i couldnt talk to the owner but i bet there is a story behind this truck

Interesting. The Swiss had a team there in '94, but I only found LR's running in any photos. Maybe it was a support truck? I did find a photo of a Swiss Camel Trophy support truck here, no info on dates but it's not a Mowag; http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/t ... phy/page16

Or maybe somebody just pasted that Camel Trophy badge there...

Camel Trophy is just a brand. The stickers and badges are a dime-a-dozen in many countries. I seriously doubt that truck has anything to do with the "race" given the age and homemade look of it.

It is a MOWAG, well spotted by Profpinz.

Pinzgauer 710K's predecessor in the role of radio truck in the Swiss army (at least for the version in the background of the "museum" picture above, without the raised roof. I wonder whether the raised roof one could be a repair shop version).

Why would anyone think they can race one beats me, though. Slow, heavy, and thirsty are the three "qualities" that spring to mind when remembering these. Not exactly the best attributes of a vehicle to be entered in an endurance race.
On the other hand, as an often-overlooked quirk of the "roomy" design, there's enough space to hide six-packs behind the front headlights (ask me how I know...)

I never thought that could be a race truck, maybe a support vehicle?, first came to my mind "ice cream truck", but discarted when i saw the "camel sign" could be a "gift shop too LOL..!!
