This has been listed a few times but hasn't hit the mark. Looks pretty hairy. Any idea what the hinged rear framework would be for?

The back opens up and there are equipment draws behind as I remember from Mopar's truck.

I wonder why have it at all? Doesn't seem to serve any structural purpose, and looks pretty beefy so would add a fair weight.

Looks more like a vehicle recovery device. Drop it, pull onto frame and drag out of way.

Agreed and would somehow work with that rear winch as it is mounted so high.

leverage points are all wrong for using the winch to lift the hoops if they had any weight on them.

Me thinketh it is an example of a cutting torch, welder and a truckload (lorry) of beer.

It appears that once he removed the original tank killer’s folding roll cage, he cut and reuse as much as he could, and added as needed.

The front and rear bumpers are original, as are the front diagonal braces are from the rear lateral braces from the original folding cage.

From this pic, you can see where he would have gotten most of the pieces

With all that weight out the front it looks like it is standing on tip toes! Any bumps you went over would lift the rear wheels off the ground very easily.

It is not so noticeable, but my pinz does the same thing. Lower in front than the rear. Assuming that when fully loaded, as in full of troops or a payload the thing will level out. When I was trying to determine if it would fit in the garage, I measured the front and it would pass easily...not noticing that the rear was taller and scraped the header. Tore the middle clip for the top completely off. Also had to remove the antenna mount.

Plenty of things would have been stuck long before that thing eventually was. I don't know much about the Volvos, but when it does get stuck at the end, it seems to lack the ability to lock all the diffs- only the front wheel on the visible side is turning. Do these volvos lack the Pinz' allround diff locking capabilities?

In the video write up it says no lockers, so I don't now if that means he didn't use them, or they were not installed or broken...
