Anyone can suggest type of hose to use for the intake manifold under the tunnel? Must be heat resistant, I could order from SAV for $4 but would really like to finish the job this weekend.
Any suggestions on what to ask and at which local store?
Thanks
JC

Considering the catastrophic failure of the current hose, plus Paul C.'s comments about that hose normally being wire-wrapped, perhaps this current split hose is already a non-stock hose. I'd get the proper hose from SAV just to be confident that it would work as designed, and be done with it. Better to do it right, than to do it twice.

SAV sells the same type of hose for all the engine applications (valve cover #4 to oil fill, air intake to oil fill, engine to brake booster vacuum hose, and intake manifold balancing hose). If you are anxious to get it completed, possibly a good quality, reinforced brake vacuum hose would work for you. I think Gates Rubber makes such a hose and should be available by the foot at better auto parts stores.

Purchased a heater hose and a muffler repair kit, containing a metallic self adhesive tape and a fiberglass/aluminum wrap. Used only the metallic tape for now. Hose on order from SAV.

I'm guessing that split was caused by a backfire, most likely because the valve was too tight.
