Calling all dog owners...
Just out of interest, how do you transport your dog in your Pinz esp 710/712M's?
Seats up or down - seats folded flat just leave that leg breaking gap in the middle

Seats up and with new rubber clamp inserts for the seat backs so they don't dislodge easily.

I came up with this CCS (Canine Containment System) after I found he would occasionally jump out the side while on the trail if a squirrel or turkey appeared. It has worked very well for me with no issues. The cargo net came from Sportsman's Guide and I cut and re-sewed as needed.

I do something very similar. I have 3 safety net straps used for race car drivers windows that span the sides and rear of the pinz. I simply zip tie them and cut them off when not needed. They stay on 90% of the time.

To answer your other question, i flip one set of seats down for their bed. its plenty of space.

2 dogs. 4 seats flipped flat with an old futon on top covered with a tarp that's bungee'd in place. I've got a stretchy cargo net from Harbor Trash, cut it in half, along the sides to keep the load from jumping, but they can still nose out.

Another idea might be to replace the passenger seat with a plywood sheet that extended forward over the footwell, allowing a dog to ride up front.

710K a bit more challenging, esp with the radio table and a rear equipment shelf.
I remove one of the two rear passenger seats and then drop in a plate to cover
the foot-well (use that cavity for stuffing in gear in). My two Dobie's then duke
it out who gets the remaining seat, or the best spot to curl up in -- female always
wins, at least till my wife want's the rear seat in fear of a scary shelf road as seen
from up front But they do end up with a decent flat area to bed down.

Eventually I have to get something more elegant to drop in place.

My dog rides up front with me in the shotgun seat.
I have put skateboard grip-tape on the parts of the doghouse and the dash that he likes to put his paws on. Now his paws don't slip and he can stabilize himself surprisingly well.
My dog has been over Black Bear Pass dozens of times with me. He loves it.

mine struggle getting comfortable but they seem to manage.

Looking forward to having dogs again at some point, two rhodesian ridgebacks leave quite a big void when they are not around anymore.

I have a K. The problem I see is in case of an accident there are a lot of places to bump around, especially with all the radios in back, so I travel very slow when my dogs are with me. There are harnesses that can hold them back with the rear seat belts, but I don't have any yet. My dachshund once jumped out of an open rear window, so I close them when she is in the rear. The boxer is too big to do that.

One potential hazard is the door latches, the K doors open
with handle down direction not up. I've always worried about
my Dobie's inadvertently opening the door, they have a pretty
hefty paw swipe. So I lock the doors from the outside -- which
has it's negatives. It would be nice to reverse the direction of
how the camming works on these doors which I don't think is
easy or even possible

One idea would be to put a hinged cover over the handle to protect it from the dogs paws, but a person could lift the cover to get to the handle. Maybe just a large hinge mounted above the handle? And maybe a magnet to hold the cover up when not needed for the dogs?
