Axle boot clamp, is factory just a hose clamp?

The axle boot that came off was held on by a regular hose clamp. When I was looking at spares prices I noticed the price "with clamps" was surprisingly more expensive. It got me thinking (always a bad sign) that the factory clamps might have been a bit sturdier than a regular hose clamp. Maybe the reason mine was off was not bad installation, but the wrong clamp. Can somebody tell me if the OEM clamps are something special?

The factory clamps are narrower so that they grip the boot properly and also fit the flange better. If a clamp is too wide it may not grip the flange (I seem to recall a lip on the flange) and could allow the boot to slip off the flange.

They also are infinitely adjustable, as you can slide one end in and latch it over some "hooks" and then screw-adjust the other end of the strap. If you just wanted one end (so you could just buy the strap), I may have a few extra used ones. I'll have to search.
