Re: Disc brake conversion

So - Did you trailer the Pinz down to Moab? How do you like those new Interco SX2-50 tires? Seems like they might be a great tire for the Pinz with either the transit wheels or the new 8 inch wheel options becoming available. Did you have the wheel balanced or are you using beads on them? How did th...

Re: Ignition Issue

There is something wrong - the ignition switch kills power to the ingition system to shut off the engine - the fuel cutoffs are just there to help reduce the chance that it would diesel (run on) if hot.

Use a meter to see what's going on...

Re: Tie Rod End thread pitch?

For the drag link - the parts manual say that the thread is M22x1.5 as the parts catalog lists the specs for the "jam nuts" used on that assembly. Was hoping they would be m23x1.5 as that is the size used on Toyota 80 series and there are some nice machined ends for DOM tubing which can be welded in...

Tie Rod End thread pitch?

I am going to be making up a set of heavy duty tie rods for the steering and need to know what the thread size and pitch is for the tie-rod ends to allow me to order up the required taps - anyone know the size of the threads? I would pull mine off to measure but I loaned out my tie rod puller tool t...

Re: Torque Tube removal...inspection

Sorry to hear about your situation. From my experience - the noise if most likely from the rear bearing in the witches hat attached to the transfer case - it gets beat up by the heavy driveshaft spinning at high speeds. # 34 in the drawing group 03-20 http://www.pinzgauer.com/img/assemblies/03-20.pn...

Re: 4x100 and wobble nuts?

Lots of people use them - but I don't know... I actually have a set of set of steel wheels from a TR7 - which are 4x96 and use larger studs - they fit on the Haflinger wheel hubs nicely with the smaller m10 studs right against the outside edge of the hole. I did some very minor clearancing of the ce...

Re: Torque Tube removal...inspection

There really isn't anything inside of the main tube - just a driveshaft. The support bearings are at the ends and are attached to the differentials in what is referred to as the "witch's hat" as it is cone shaped. Typically the main tube is left attached to the body when the front or rear diffs are ...

Re: Overdrive parts available soon

Yes - had a crazy computer control to maximize fuel economy I heard that watched the coolant temp etc. People figured out how to bypass it for full manual control. Can't be used in first gear as it uses an internal hydraulic pump off the output for control. Just another possible somewhat compact opt...

Re: Overdrive parts available soon

Was talking with a friend about overdrives and remembered that the late 80s corvettes had an interesting overdrive box added to the manual transmission - it was built by Doug Nash and is called a Nash 4+3. Turns out two ratios were available - 0.68 and 0.60 and is basically a small 2 speed auto tran...

712K Camper for sale - BO over $18,000 - Florida

Saw this on the expedition portal site - don't know anything else about it. The interesting part is that it has TD wheels and what appears to be the TD axles - which means TD disc brakes and the revised axle gear ratios... Engine cover repair / restoration

So my engine cover has seen better days - Always figured I would buy a replacement for it as it had about 10 cracks of varying size and severity. There was even a piece about 2" x 1" missing on one of the edges. There were several repairs already done on it when I got the truck nearly 18 years ago -...

Re: Installing new Master Brake Cylinder

Do you mean the adapter fitting under the residual pressure valve #33.2? https://www.pinzgauer.com/img/assemblies/07-05.png I think I've always done it after the master was fully installed and connected to the booster. Which side stripped? Not sure how you would attach the lines to the cylinder befo...
