Removing plug wires

Here's another new guy question. I want to clean and re-gap my spark plugs, what's the best way to remove the wires? Do I need to use a wire pulling tool or can I just grab ahold of them and yank? Thanks for the help

What you need is a spark plug wire boot puller, it sounds stupid but it will save the wires from being pulled apart on the inside. That is what causes most plug wire failures. They run about $15.00 for a decent pair, there are several different variants for different applications. I use the military setup so I don't use them, so someone else will have to recommend a Brand and model that works for the Pinz Application.

Thanks for the feedback Miles. I should clarify something here. I also run the stock Swiss military set up in my '73 710M. I've never had any experience with this type of setup. So risking sounding like a FNG

use a 19mm wrench from your tool kit

If a plug is loose in the head just remove the wire from the cap and remove plug with wire attached. Remove the wire by using the plug socket and a wrench

Well in that case you need one of these it has a slot to bypass the wire:

3/4" = 19mm

Oh, if your going to use a wrench you need a flare nut wrench, it has a slot to get by the wire.
