wireing a trailer

Well I am off to go get my new trailer to pull the balloon around with tomorrow. I am curious if anyone besides SAV or some other mail order place might have the trailer plug. I am unsure as to wire the 12 volt lights in series or invest in more LED's on the trailer.

What have you guys done?
To many decisions....................

Why would you not just order the trailer plug from one of the dealers. I know that Patrick CWR carries the plug only. He also has the 24v to 12v trailer wire adapter if that is the course you choose.

It may be a standard coupler for tractor trailers, I beleive I've even seen them at some U-Haul stores, though I couldn't say for sure. It should be a Nato standard.

For info John and me discovered in a LandRover service part a very nice adapter link to go from the multi pin round to a flat strip connector most commonly found on US made/wired trailers.

British Pacific has the adapter from the Euro "12N" to the flat 4.... I made one years ago with a plug from SAV.
I had also just wired in a flat 4 connector to the junction box under the rear door on another Pinz.

And lastly, if you have an Austrian truck or rewired to run separate brake and indicator lamps, you cannot use the flat4 on a trailer without a convertor to combine the turn/brake lamps (again). It takes 5 wires for a separate turn and brake lamp circuit.

I changed mine to a standard 6-wire round plug, then put some 24v series 60 ovals in my trailer. the setup has worked flawlessly for 3 years. Soon I'll be putting some multivolts in the trailer so I can choose between my pinz or my cherokee for towing without changing a thing.

I think this may have been mentioned on the LED thread, but this guy's eBay store has several Trailer lights - and a bunch of them are Multi-Volt:

nice lights! but he's in au. i wonder if that's a problem. i need some small side markers to mount to the rear bumper bkt.

These are 2 inch 24v LEDs from TruckLite. Grommet mounted and easy to hook up.
