How the heck to pronounce "Pinzgauer"

Post by Charles »

OK Guys,
I need some help here. A friend of mine and I are fighting on how to pronounce "Pinzgauer".

Is it Pinz-G-auer (with a hard 'g') or is it more like Pinzauer (with a really soft or no 'g' at all)...?

Come to think of it, he pronounces Puch like Pooch, I say "Pook".

So, who's right here?

Thanks!
Best Regards,
Charles

I pronounce it as Thilo 'taught' me...steer pook pinz gow (like cow) er. Due to his familiarity with the llingo, I'd wager he has it right. I bet there's plenty of opinions though.

I do not like this word "bomb." It is not a bomb. It is a device that is exploding. Jacques le Blanc

Thanks!
Here's how I heard it from Thilo...

Shtier (shooshy s and long I) Dime-ler (long I) Pook (really soft k almost like an h) Pinz-G-auer (hard g).

That's my story and I'm sticking with it! So, thanks for the vote. I think I win my bet!
Best Regards,

Now I can flip the Pinz and not worry without losing anybody from the back. :D
Actually, the first to be belted in were my neighbor's ten and eight year old daughters. We had a quick trip to the local Rita's Ice.
