Front door replacement windows

Post by jchobby »

Has anyone seen a plastic/fabric window that can be slid in the 2 points like the original front door windows. I have seen such things made for the Unimogs. It would be a great, light weight, option that wouldn't trap water.

Yes I have seen them close up!

We had them made for a customer one Brian Gould who tragically died recently.

Originally made for his rock crawler (712) the modification worked very well. We also have another customer who has a similar set up on his 710M. Those were to his own design.

Regrettably the original back street fabricator who made them for us also died shortly after although I do have a kind soul that would run some up for us.

Wow, great idea. Just like a set of Jeep upper soft doors. I bet you could take the analogy even further and make them with a one-piece window that zips open. If you've ever seen the Jeep upper soft doors, there isn't much to them. Could probably be made fairly inexpensively.

Change the dimensions, and the angles a bit...

I love this forum. Gets the wheels turning (no pun intended). A set up like the Jeep would be great with rip down windows. Jim I will send you an email. Dennis hope all is well, I will call you to check in.

A set of these just sold on eBay. I didn't see the final bid, but it was up to
somewhat over 150 Euros near the end.
