Deuce & 1/2 trailer - PINZ compatable?

Post by Sleuth »

I have been offered a US Deuce & a half trailer at a very good price. My question is, will I be able to safely tow it with my 710? Is the lunette (the towing eye) be low enough to be hooked on the PINZ? Will the electrics (esp. the brakes) work?
The trailer is 200 miles away, so I can't just drop in an look at it.

Thanks for your help!

The hook-up should be fine...I doubt if the the trailer plugs are compatible but that's an easy fix. I'd be concerned about the trailer weight, even empty those way quite a bit more than the old M416 trailers.

If you are talking about an M105 trailer the Pinz would move it but stopping would be another matter. The 105 trailers are very heavy and most have air brakes. Even with a 404 mog it is a chore to move them any distance. The American lunette is about 1 1/2 times thicker than the european lunettes. I would be concerned about binding in the pintle. A good 2" receiver plug and a f30 would work much better. A better match for a trailer would be the M101 3/4 ton but even that is a lot of trailer for the Pinz. Like Mike N said stay with the 416 class, this is of course you are planning on using the trailer with the pinz and not for another project.

Thanks guys. Sounds like this trailer is not a good deal for use with my PINZ 710.
I appreaciate your advice.
