Okay how do you get at the hand brake? and liner thikness?

Getting ready to tear into the hand brake and need to know what the minimum thickness is for the hand brake liners. I assume that it is just before the rivets start digging into the friction plate. Also what is the thickness of the new liners?

Well I got all the bolts off, removed the E-brake hardware and still can't get the back cone off to get at the E-brake. Its binding up at the body mount and the E-brake pivot arm mounting point. It just gets wedged in no matter what angle I take.

It just is not possible that you have to remove the body to gain access, I have to be missing something.

I was able to peek in and see that the back lining was about 3/16" thick and very little wear on the rear friction plate.

Help!!

You have to remove the rear body bolt and loosen up the 2 at the axle (4 on the 712). I had to jack up the body quite a bit to get it to clear. Fun part putting in back together: holding that rear bushing/body mount in place while lifting everything else back up into place. A third hand is definite help here.

Thanks, I was going to lift the body anyways to replace a seal at the rear of the middle diff. that I found when removing the diff slaves. Might as well do a complete teardown of the drive lines and pull the body...Ughh!!
