Trailer for a 710

Post by Wayne Roberts »

I am in the market for a trailer to tow behind my Pinz. I can get a good deal on a Canada M101. It is about the same as a US jeep trailer M416. I also have found a good Hummer trailer. The M101 weighs about 900 lbs and the Hummer trailer weighs in at about 1300lbs. The jeep trailer is almost the same as my Willys MBT. The MBT tows like a dream but has its limits due to size and lack of a cover (besides being too nice to drag on the trails). The hummer trailer is 6 ft wide and 8 ft long. It stands about as high as the Pinz. The hummer trailer has surge brakes while the smaller one does not. I think that the Pinz will pull the bigger trailer with out any problems. What do you think?

Thanks for your input,
Wayne

My 710M pulls one of the 1 ton trailers from SAV without a probelm. I need to fix a short in the trailer lights, but that is neither here nor there with regard to your question. I guess it would depend on how much weight you are going to have to carry. Getting a cover for the smaller trailer shouldn't be too tough.

I had a one ton (maybe it was 3/4 ton) with surge brake, but it towed real well, hardly knew it was there.
I have since sold it and the buyer is very happy with it.
On a long ride it made about one mile per gallon difference on the 710M.

Cheers,

Wayne - did you come up with a trailer? I have a brother in law who hauls trailers and cars for a living. Spoke with him today about a SAV trailer - he might be passing by there in the near future. I was going to have him pick me up one when he does. Interested in one of the SAV trailers if I can work out the details?

Yes I bought a M101A2. It is a 1992 and has the surge brakes. Wood is good and the top appears to be new or close to it. I probably would have joined you on your deal if you would have been a few days quicker but I have already sent off the check. I will look foward to comparing the 2 when we all get together.
