710M rear springs question(s)
My 710M has decided to assume a squatting condition all of a sudden. The springs on the right rear, particularily the rear most of the two is bent inward at the top. The bottoms of the springs appear okay.
On the spring that is bent there is a cone that comes down from the top and is no longer resting in the cup two or three coils down.
The question is, since nothing is obviously broken on the spring, is it possible the body shifted? Could I have broken a body mount? The body does not appear to be offset or out of alignment. Could getting the right rear wheel into the air have done that? Both the Rancho shocks (left and right) appear to be compressed big time.
The most weight I have ever had in the back is 2100 pounds. 42 fifty pound feed bags distributed evenly front to back and side to side. After that the truck still sat normally.
Anyone have any idea what this should cost to be repaired or where I can get rear springs. I think SAV is out of them and I couldn't find them on EI's new web site.
Thanks
Andy

Erik, thanks. Now is that a part I can find and replace? I think I read in the archives here or on Yahoo that the rear springs are easier to deal with than the front ones. I do not have a parts manual yet, the line drawings in the repair manual don't really mean a whole lot to me. Is this going to take a spring compresser?

Removing the rear road spring is easy with a 22mm socket and an air gun.
First---- Support the frame
Spray on some "pen" lube to the spike bolt threaded into the axle casting and supporting the rear spring lower cup. Whizz the bolt out to relieve the tension, then thump the assy out from the truck. Reversal of the proceedure will reinstall. Just be careful when re-inserting the spike bolt that you don't cross thread it. Use a wrench to "start feel" the take up. We use copperslip anti seize on the threads
Then whizz it back up with the air gun.
Easy easy. Don't try this with the front, the spring is a monster and can "urt yu mate" You need a compressor

OOOps no customer bashing now
Thanks Dennis. I did finally confirm the cups on the right side were both rusted out. But I cannot find anyone in Del Rio that would attempt to clean up and sync the carbs or guide me through it which I think needs to be done. When I look at them I'm afraid to spray carb cleaner on them because it appears the only thing holding them together is the gunk.
I also noticed that the boot on the right rear had a hole in it and my spark plug wires don't quite appear the way I think they should.
I took the coward's way out
Monday and trailered the Pinz to San Antonio and turned her over to Robert from Ultimate 4 X 4 and he took her to Houston.
Right now I feel like one of my girls is missing. Can you get or feel empty nest syndrome for a Pinz?
Thanks again for your input. When the left side goes out maybe I can generate enough testosterone to do it myself.
