Factory EFI

G'Day Erik,

Sure is factory EFI.

The factory built what they call a 715E motor.
2679 cm3
7.8 compression
77.2 kW/4000 rpm
196 Nm/2800 rpm
Bosch K-Jetronic Fuel Injection system

They also fitted the system with a KKK Turbocharger.
84.6 kW/4000 rpm
206 Nm/2800 rpm

I'm not sure how far they developed it, or whether it got into any "production Pinzgauers" but I understand all development work on the petrol motor stopped not long after, in favour of fitting diesel motors (ie 716, 718)

As regards the PS system it is the same as fitted to the TD range.
Again I'm not sure if it was ever fitted as a factory option to any "standard" air-cooled Pinzgauers but it was fitted to my factory prototype 710/716 hybrid (basically a 716 with an air-cooled motor)

Wow, 196Nm/280 rpm Are you seeing this with your current 712M 2.7l? I am looking at going to a larger engine when the Efi finally is completed. But i didn't think the horse power would be near that. I your Hybrid the white one on your web site?

With my 2.62l, new pistons, new cam, and FI (all from Jim LaGuardia) I know I've gotten a true 30% increase in power. I can tell because I'm a full gear higher, that's a 30% reduction in torque, and I am getting the same performance I used to have one gear down.

Of course I'm assuming that I had a reasonably decent stock engine for comparison, and I believe that to be the case.

I don't have any dyno figures to back it up my perceptions, though. And I believe I still have room for improvement as I tweak the FI system maps.

Jim, thats what i'm hoping for. I would like to put a 710 diff in to lower the RPM. But a 50% increase would be sweet.

:?: By diff, did you mean transfer box?
The 710 & 712 have the same diffs .... the difference in the final drivetrain ratio between the two, is only because they use different transfer boxes (which have different ratios)
