propane?

Post by rollingpinz »

Hello

There seems to be quite a few off-roaders converting to propane and there is supposed to be a kit for air-cooled engines. So, has anyone considered converting a Pinz? Has anyone actually done it?

propane

I've now converted about 20 pinzgauers to dual fuel propane / petrol. My own 710K is a daily driver and has done around 30,000 miles on LPG (propane) without any problems, the engine runs very smoothly with no hesitations or flat spots, and miles per gallon is comparable with petrol.

Very cool, I had thought about it a time or two.
Anyone here in the states, especially on the West coast?

Cost of Propane?

Post by LibTimothy »

How does the cost of Propane compare to the price of regular un-leaded? I thought it was more expensive.

Last filling of the propane tank for the house in Feb was $3.00/gal, course gas here is $3.59 or more, depending on what time of day it is.
I really haven't been driving the pinz much lately.

Hello

Here, in So Cal, I have heard its close to 4/gal, but gas is getting there soon also. I was mainly concerned with the valve seats.

There is also that issue of reduced power running Propane.
