Do you like snow ??? I do

Good day all

These are for those of you who like snow as much as I do.

Here are a couple of pictures I took after last Sunday snowstorm in which we received more than a foot of snow.





This one is me trying to go out of the driveway.



And this one was how the roads look like.



This year is a record one for falling snow we got more than 468 cm or 15 feet and some inches of snow, no wonder they call Quebec City the capital of snow.

Wow! How do you keep the snow from coming in around the windows of the house? Do the store close until the roads are clear? How does the pinz do with that much snow? I think i would invest in a snow mobile

Well, first you buy a good Honda snow blower instead of snowmobile and you do a lot of shoveling.
You should know that the best shovels are made by Garant and they are made here in Quebec City. We have lots of use for them as you can see.
Almost everything was open for business but it was going slow. Lots of employees could not show up to work because the public transportation was close due to the roads closures.

Tomorrow I will try to take picture of the city snow depot to show you how bad it is here.

Sweet! We've a good year here for snow too. I love snow, but I have to admit I am ready for Spring.

Man! I thought Chicago was bad in the mid '70s when I had to live there. Nice pictures, but not for me. I saw enough snow in your pictures to last me for a long time.

I don't see how you all do it, gimme 105 degrees and about 15% humidity anyday over that.

Hmmm...it's not quite that outside here at the moment (only 37C / 98F) but the day is young!

G'Day to you too Professor. It wasn't quite that warm here today, it is supposed to hit the 90's on Friday though.

My comment about 105 F and 15% humidity was intended to indicate that those temps are actually tolerable and you can work in them, once you acclimate. To me acclimating to the heat was easier than acclimating to the winters up north. Just make sure you drink plenty of water here in the summer. When the humidity is that low you don't even realize you are loosing moisture. Actually March brings some very dry air in. A couple of years ago we had one day where the humidity was 6%. You don't even get that in Presidio, in the Chihuahuan Desert.

I hope your drought situation is easing up. I still haven't had any rain. I've watched it go by on radar about 60 or so miles on either side of us, but nothing here.

great Pic's. I took my truck out two weeks ago and got stuck in a two foot hard pack of snow drift. I took the wrong loop around a ditch. I had to dig it out and get a push from two guys to get her free.

It's funny reading about you guys shivering in the snow, as while I'm typing this letter it's 39C / 102F outside. (10% humidity)
I went out in the Pinny a couple of days ago when it was hot, but unlike Denis I DEFINITELY didn't need the Webasto working....I did however have the aircon on..... the standard Pinny "2X90" aircon
(2 windows open @ 90 kph)

It's nice to know, Pinny's work well in ALL environmental conditions / temperatures

Andy: Still no let-up in the drought.
I've almost finished my new workshop/garage and just the other day I did the final connection of the spouting to the rainwater tank, but so far the tank remains as dry as chips
The only thing I haven't connected is the overflow pipe, but I figure I'm fairly safe in assuming that the tank (4500 litres) won't fill up in a hurry!

BTW: I'm glad you like my website...I have to say it's a bit outdated, but plans are afoot for a total rebuild.

Peter, containment is becoming a bigger item in the Western US. Drilling wells is expensive and sometimes the water they hit is not suitable. But, same as in your situation, it does take some rain to get it to work.

Re the 2 X 90 Pinz a/c. I found last year that the 710M is actually quite bearable with the door tops off even in 100 F plus temps. The visiblity is much better and the noise level actually decreases a little bit because the top is not thumping like a drum skin.

I stopped the thumping cab roof by putting a piece of bubble insulation (like the kind used for water heaters) on top of the supports under the canvas. Does insulate and cut down the noise, light and inexpensive.
I also use removable hinge pins that I can use to take the doors off. Really adds to visibility and airflow.

I'm Coping a Architect from Sydney (Steve Kennedy) Should have five thousand gallons when all done and will run toilets and the yard off it when completed. If it rains like it did last year it shouldn't take long to fill
