Pressure release when I pulled the speedo cable

Post by Jerbearyukon »

When I went to take out the speedometer cable there was a huge release of pressure in the diff.

IS THIS NORMAL. Is the diff and all the drive train supposed to be under this much pressure.

I would think being hydraulic that it would need to pressure up, but is there a pressure release valve somewhere that may be clogged??

My service manual will be here next week.

Thanks

some pressure would be normal there are no vents on the diff. Pessure would increase if the oil is hot

Jerry,
That pressure does build up in all the gearboxes. As Eric said, it's normal. So, open them carefully to avoid getting sprayed with that stinky stuff!
