ZF Trans

Post by Erik712m »

I have found a couple of six speed ZF Transmissions and was woundering if all ZF gears could be swapped form one transmission to the next? They have the gears listed.A couple look like it would allow for a little more high speed with out the wide gear spacing, i have heard about in the past.

The S5-18/3 box used in the Pinzgauer is also used in a few other European vehicles.
All indications are that as these boxes are very similar in design and build and the different gear ratio's used in various vehicle should be swappable (within reason ....keeping in mind the different internal bearing sizes etc)

I'm not sure if this situation is the same with the ZF six speed transmissions you are talking about!

Erik
Would you email me the gear ratios and pics of the input and output of the tranny? I doubt that 1st is anywhere near as low as in the 710, but may be a fair tradeoff with a 712 T case. It would be interesting to mate a 6 speed to a Pinz. .... Heck, you never know, it could be interesting in the Pink Cow.
