Request: Special Use Pinzgauers

Hello to all,

I am working on a project to find out if any other Pinzgauers are used in any other Search and Rescue groups or for other types of special support to municipalities or agencies here in the United States.

If you could post a picture and a brief description as I have done here, that would be wonderful.

If you prefer, you can send it to my personal mailbox.

(Here is our truck)

Our primary use for the 710K is to provide Communications and Cartography for Search and Rescue operations in the Minnesota area. It allows us to operate in areas to difficult for others and enables us to provide better technical rescue and medical coverage to our teams. We work closely with multiple Minnesota agencies and also with the Civil Air Patrol.

Hi Ken,

The only ones I know of are those of Technical Aid Convoy in Florida (www.tacfl.org).

As I am a very recent Pinz owner from across the pond, I would assume that US-based "veteran" Pinzgauerists on the forum know a lot more about TAC or other Pinzes used by volunteer or SAR groups.

Ken,

One of the guys who does off road tours with me from time to time is a comander with the local SAR team in Big Bear Lake, CA.

He does use it when needed to get the guys into the back country, but that is when his truck is running as he is not very mechannically inclined and lets his trucks go in the maintenance dept, last time I saw it and him we were doing some video for MTV, my truck being the "on camera" truck and his in a support role.

Thank you for the replies !

I looked into TAC as you have suggested. I will try to contact them.

I talked to a Pinzgauer owner in Michigan a few years ago that would use his to assist in SAR operations but he sold his truck a year or so later to peruse other opportunities.

I hope that in a week or so some others may see this thread and pass on more information as you have.
