Pinzies in the PNW

Post by krick3tt »

For all of you in the Pacific Northwest there is a group up here that you may not know about.

www.northwestoverlandsociety.org

A group of basically Land Rover owners that are in need of pinz owners to round out their group and the adventures. Drop in on the website.
I have met many of them and they are a great group of folks, very dedicated to 4x and offroading.
Since I am the only pinz owner in the group I have been trying my best to get them to truly appreciate the pinz, and it's working.

I'm a member of the LROCV (Land Rovers Owners Club of Victoria) and am on the Comittee (I can only be on Committee as I have my RR as my officially listed Club vehicle), and I take it as one of my missions in life to push the Pinzgauer bandwagen at Club and Committee level whenever I get the opportunity!

There are only two Pinzgauers in the Club (we have just under 1000 members) but with Tony Michael as the second vehicle owner and being an avid photographic / video person we often manage to get the Pinny's on video and in presentations that are screened at Club meetings etc.

Whilst we cop a lot of flak, and friendly harrasment only a very few are dead against the vehicles (those that generally believe there should only be LR's in the LROCV) the abilities and capabilities of the Pinny's are well known and deep down I think most members have quite a respect for them.

The strange thing is if there is ever a load or addtional people to be carried or a vehicle to be recovered etc, everybody calls on the Pinny for help! :D

BTW. In 1962 Steyr Daimler Puch and Land Rover had "discussions" but nothing ever came of it! .... I have never been able to find out more (other than they had "discussions") but who knows what may have been developed if "discussions" had gone further

I've run across their website before and it looks like a good group. Maybe when they're in Eastern Washington or Oregon I'll try to join in for something. Thanks for posting it.
