Big Bear Trail Ride

Post by Pinz Enthusiast »

Ok, we are all getting a little rusty and need to get a little dirt in our lungs and veins, Bernhard and I have been talking about a short day trip if anybody is interested, we were thinking meeting at the triangle in Fawnskin, and going up 3N14, to my play area, (it did escape the fires last year) and work our way over to 2N71 and back to 3N12, up and over the hill to 3N16 and on to a New (to me) area behind John BUll with some awsome views of both the upper and lower meadows of Holcom Valley, maybe do lunch up there and if time permits we could head down to Gold Mountain Jeep Trail and back to the pavement, so come on everybody, Jim L. might bring his haffy I know Randy D. wants to come, but lets see some new pinz guys from OC and San Bernadino areas come out and play, oh almost forgot the date May 17th say we meet in fawnskin around 9:30am or so

Big Bear Trail Ride

Post by Pinz Enthusiast »

Possible adjustments to this ride, 1 just found out that the 91 will be closed at greenriver from 11pm to 9am, this weekend so we should expect it to be closed same times next weekend aswell, also to make things easier for everybody maybe we should keep sunday the 18th open for the ride aswell, let me know via posts PM or call me 714-394-4160 and we will get a consensus of who wants to go and what days are best, also if the 91 is closed that means a detour up the 57 to the 60 or 10 and across, I know for me it adds about 20 extra miles or so on the drive and at the cost of fuel I understand if we want to postpone, either the time or day, Memorial weekend for me is out I'll be in Phoenix....

Hello

Thanks for the consideration on th 18th. Also, if Eastward travel is difficult, Rob Wyatt is planning a Gorman trip for the 17th and maybe the 18th will be a consideration. He has yet to return my e-mail. Personnally, I love the Big Bear thing, but maybe Gorman is easier. I don't know.

Eric, it's just the 91 at Greenriver overcrossing that will be closed, and then only till 9am, for you the 605 up to the 210 might be the best route if we go early, for me it's only another 15 to 20 miles and then this will only be for morning travel, it won't close again till 11pm, and I plan to be back home long before that....

Hello

Then Big Bear it is! Assuming, of course, everyone is cool with the 18th instead of the 17th. It's just as well. Rob still hasn't gotten back to me. What's with those mog people? I guess I just don't have enough of them to be worth the time.

Well just looked at cal trans site and looks like the 91 should be open to east bound traffic, for those going from OC, we will meet at the traffic triangle in fawnskin around 9:00 - 9:30 sunday morning, gass up in deer lick if you need to as I don't see any need to take a 26 mile detour into big bear just for gas.

....... but that 2 cylinder, 28 hp vehicle can certainly do things offroad that a lot of vehicles with ten times the power haven't got a hope of doing! :D

Well, it was an interesting day on the trail, we got to do some wheeling and get Hundy familiar with 3 wheeling before the fuel pump in the Haffie decided to act up. Fixed it twice for a while, then had to go to town for another electric fuel pump. Seems the tank needs some cleaning, I'll have to get a filter attached to the suction side and clean the tank.
Well here are a few pic's
