attaching rubber moulding

Post by krick3tt »

Usually the first clue I get that I have done something wrong is that it just does not work the way I know it should.
I replaced the door seal with the 3M black stuff on one door and seal. With the 3M yellow stuff on the other door and seal, just to see which one works the best.
Neither one!!!
They stick to the metal just fine, but not to the rubber. Just like directions said...apply to each part and let it become tacky. Then stick them together.

What is the well kept secret?

You must first clean both surfaces with denatured alcohol(brake cleaner). it removes any oils from the surface for a superior bond :D
