Getting ready and having fun

Post by Denis »

Good day all

Here are some pics of the trip I did last week end. 8) The trip was to make sure everything is ready for THE TRIP. I will tell you more about it soon.

These pics were taken north of Saint Ludger de Milo. For most of you this place is way off the map but surely a nice place to go with a Pinz. There are enough trails to get lost.

Wow, trees and green. Denis, that is a real nice set up you have with the trailer and awning, etc. I hope you have a great time on your trip.

One bummer

Post by Kirby »

If you leave camp. so does all the shade..? or do you have a magical way of keeping it all up?

That is a sweet set up, I have used those plastic things on the rope to secure similiar things, they work great!
Pinzing is AWESOME.

I like the setup on the pad at home. Is that the "Mother in Law" suite or where you go when the mother in law comes to visit? :D

Thanks Andy

Northumberland, it is going to be even nicer soon with the colors of fall.

Kirby if I leave camp, I don't need shade there anymore  It takes maybe 2 minutes to put on or to take off.

Russ, the mother in law never comes to my place. She says that they are too many weird trucks at that place and the guys that lives there must be crazy.

Denis,

Is that a Swiss trailer that you converted, or is it the Canadian Iltis trailer?

Good day Bob

How is life in Toronto these days...

The trailer is a Swiss army issue.

I did the modification to fit the Autohome tent on top and I added legs at the back to stabilize it when the tent is open and the trailer unhook.

If you need more info on how I did it, PM me.

Bonjour Denis!

Toronto is what it is...I try to flee it for the "near north" whenever I can

You did a fantastic job on the trailer! Thanks for the extra pics. I'll have to phone Karl and see if he has any trailers left.

I'll PM you for some particulars.

Cheers

The Swiss trailer looks like a copy of the WW2 jeep trailers. Do a google search of M100 and M416 trailers, Those are the military # for those trailers in the US and the M100 is the Canadian equal (iirc) to the M416.
I have a M762 trailer (flatbed version of the M416). Nice size little trailer, but I also have a 3/4T British Sankey trailer that has me spoiled.... lots of little extras like surge (over run) brakes, a jockey wheel, rear stabilizers legs and a wonderfully balanced tongue ( in comparison to the M762), for moving it around empty. The drawback is that they use LR lug pattern wheels... unless you have LRs
M416 rims are cheap and everywhere, and are the same as used on M151 Jeeps.
Just a littte more info and options for thought.

Thanks Dave!

I'll check out the dimensions on a few of them. The 416's are certainly plentiful, but I'd have to get something up from the States. The cost of shipping it might make it less enticing.

The Iltis trailers have been liquidated recently, so there should be a few around up here. I'm not sure, but I think they are the same dimension as the 416. I just have to compare it to the Swiss trailer dimensions.

I stand corrected, a M416 is a M101 in Canada...... too many numbers swimming in my head :?

Tell me about shipping across the border !  I may be getting a trailer from up "near" Ottawa, and shipping has been quoted at near double the trailer cost!( same as the Supacat costed) Shipping the same trailer from the UK to Los Angeles, is almost half.

Dave, it might be cheaper to take a "vacation" and pick it up yourself before the snow gets roof top high again.

I wonder how the little camper thing would work on my trailer?

Is the sleeper tent removable easily?
