battery powered dome light?
I had been thinking about installing some sort of interior light in the cab of my 710 for awhile but with our recent excitement with Hurricane Ike, I really got thinking about this item again.
Any suggestions out there for a suitable battery powered interior light for a Pinz?

Dome Light
If you mean a light powered off of the pinz battery, Check out LED backup lights. They can come in a mount with screws or are made to fit into a ring that is installed like a grommet. They have a long life and fairly low power demand. Just watch the polarity when installing. Check auto parts stores.
Small round "push" lights are available for closets and other places that don't have wiring, these run of of penlight batteries. Check WalMart.

Thanks for the idea I do want to go with something that is "self powered". I'll check the closet light idea.

I bought some at WalMart (3 in a package) and put one on the front roll bar. If it would just keep from vibrating apart and spilling batteries it would be a great light. These things have some sort of sticky pad on the base and then the light housing twists on. I finally put the base on with Gorilla Glue. The base is solid, the rest of the light still vibrates itself loose.
I saw some better ones in Home Depot and may try them. They are a little more expensive, but still way under $ 30.00.
Did you, your family, house, work, and the Pinz all survive Ike alright, I hope?

I have the push-on 3 LED lights also. Used velcro on the light and have the velcro pads in several places to move the light to the spot that is needed. They don't shake loose.

I too bought the "Dot-its" stick on type. However, at the local salvage yard they sell some generic knock-offs, which are even nicer, imho.
The Dot-its require removal of 3 screws to replace the batteries. To do this, you need to remove the light, wrecking the self-adhesive.
The cheapos don't have the self-adhesive, so I glue them in place with RTV gasket adhesive. But these simply twist to dis-assemble in order to replace the batteries, much easier!
I think the lights cost about 2$ each.
