Moab in April 2009: Jeep Easter Safari?

Post by WolfgangK »

On April 4-12 2009 there will again be the Jeep Easter Safari in Moab/Utah.

http://www.centralpt.com/pageview.aspx?id=16382

When I visited the event a few years ago I've seen all sorts of cars, not only Jeeps. I don't remember having seen Pinzgauers, back then I was more interested in Jeeps

This year my wife and I will be there again, as we come over to the US for a few days of skiing in the Rockies.

Will forum members take their Pinzgauers to Moab for this event? I am sure it would be some fun to meet (even if my Pinz has to stay at home in Germany).

Cheers from Germany
Wolfgang

Some neat photos there!

I did the Easter Jeep Safari a couple of years ago - saw all sort there, not just Jeeps, as you say, but don't recall seeing any Pinnies...? Anyone know different?

Thanks for the update Wolfgang, and the lead to the event in Moab.

I will be moving to Colorado in April but may not be able to get to Moab in time for the event. ...but, for sure next year as I will be much closer.

I really enjoyed seeing your pinz with the metal top. If you have any shots of the work you did on that build I, for one, would really enjoy seeing the progress pictures.

Happy trails,
Morris

Several of us went in 2003 & 2004 in 2005 I was the only Pinz- those years we were introduced to Moab by the Rocky Mountain Moggers. Those guys had been going for years and really know the trails. Here's the link to the 2004 trip:
http://www.rmpinzgauers.org/photogallery/moab2004.htm
And in May of 2005 we held a "Moab Treffen" with 16 trucks in attendance:
http://www.rmpinzgauers.org/photogallery/moab2005.htm
I quit going to the Easter Safari because of the trail closures, the Jeep safari gets permits to make several of the trails one way, we never ran any of the organized trail rides anyway, so we've been going in the late spring and up until this year we did a fall run.
There also trip reports on the RMP website for the 2006 (2 trips) 2007 & last year. The Pinzi's do really well in Moab and the pictures just don't do it justice.
We usually spend 4-5 days running a variety of trails, last year we did some more "exploring" of different trails. We will probably plan a trip for May.
Morris when you get out here we'll have to do some trails...

Thanks Wolfgang,

I tried to find it (no success) on the translated part of Robi's site but, you are correct, the pictures give the story. The members (on the German site) seemed to be very favorable to your build.
I keep the translated site on my favorites and drop in sometimes to see what is going on there. Some of the pictures of travels around the world are the best I have seen. Very adventurous people there and some very spectacular photos.

Thanks,
Morris

Hi Morris,

Robi's site is indeed very good. And most of the guys speak english, so if you have any special request don't hesitate to post in your language.

If you like the travel pictures you may want to have a look at this posting:

It's some impressions of a trip we did to Libya (Sahara) back in November. Ok, it was not with Pinzgauers, but with my Toyota (the dark grey one). It was a phantastic journey...
