Hi Chaos, I,m in Swindon, Pinzmeister is being a bit coy, he is the 'uber' Guru of Pinzgauers in UK as far as I know. I have also long been playing with Landrovers and have a 69 Series 2a SWB at the moment. I also have a very nice Pinzgauer 710k fitted with a Mercedes 2.9ltr 5cyl Diesel, converted by the Pinzmeister. You can come look see any time, but do take the time to go see the Pinzmeister (I didn,t have time to look at his Haflingers properly so make a day of it) I bought without even driving one but having said that I,ve driven a lot of different military vehicles over the years, I haven,t been dissapointed with the Pinz, either its driveability or fuel economy (with the diesel) The only thing I would change is to have a turbo version of this engine, not for speed, but for storming up hills on the road. She tackles the off road stuff with much less fuss than a petrol Pinz, just over tickover gets her up the side of deep ditches etc. All I can say is that a Pinz is really lightyears ahead of a Landrover, but its only fair to say that they were designed for different things and different prices, you could probably buy 3-4 Landrovers for the price of a new Pinz back in the 70,s.
