I know I'm not in that "we"...In hot climates, I always used 40 weight oils in air cooled engines. In a milder climate 30 weight, and lighter in the winter time.

You don't want to use a 'wide' multi weight oil if you don't have the wide temp changes

Cost of LPG conversion is 1500 pounds, thats fitted and working with a choice of tanks dependant on where you want it sited, the usual places are along one wheel arch, or behind the bulkhead under the table, usually a 90ltr tank. Unfortunately there is no room on a 710K to mount the tank underneath the truck, unlike a 710M or 712M.

This begs the question what is a ‘wide’ temperature range? Being within a five minute walk of the Pacific Ocean in the summer we may see low 60’s at night and daytime temperatures well over 100 a short drive inland. Would that be a wide range?

That isn't a wide spead for oil. But that is within a 30 to 50 weight range.... Typically for most of So Cal, a oil less than 20 weight would never be needed ( not withstanding mountain areas where colder temps are normal ).
Obviously, other parts of the country/world need to use oil for their climate
