Pinz turnpike legal?
Pinz turnpike legal?
I was recently informed by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol the other day that you could not drive a Pinzgauer on the Oklahoma Turnpikes. I asked him what was illegal about my 712 and all he kept compairing it to was the mini trucks that are being imported in. The minimum speed on the turnpike is 45 mph. I asked him 3 times what was illegal and I couldn't get an answer. Have anyone had any issues with their law officers on this?

Perhaps he's a former Wisconsin state trooper?

When I've had the same thing happen to me, I get as polite as possible and simply ask the police office to write me up if he feels it's warranted.
If it's not legal, cite me and give me a ticket. He can always explain to the judge why he ended up wasting everyone's time and money.

Um... Didn't someone just say that??Perhaps he was just a dumb hick?
Sorry, that's not really fair to Wisconsin State Troopers, but they ARE part of WisDOT.Perhaps he's a former Wisconsin state trooper?
Speaking of WisDOT:
For everyone's enjoyment: WisDOT is again pushing to limit vehicles brought in under the 25-yr. exemption. There was another public hearing held last week. Here's what our Sen. Grothman wrote:
"At the hearing yesterday (9-22-10) the WI Department of Motor Vehicles one more time showed the state of Wisconsin government at its worst. DMV thought that the cars in question would be illegal in Minnesota and Iowa. We have confirmed this is not so. Indeed the DMV cannot for certain name one other state in which these cars would be illegal. They led off presenting a chart showing a nationwide reduction in traffic fatalities but were unable to show one fatality caused by the motor vehicles they are trying to ban today."
"...it is frustrating that under our civil service rules the DMV bureaucrats responsible for this will keep their jobs and continue to boss around the citizens of Wisconsin unnecessarily in other ways."
Yeah Glenn!! You ROCK.
(Sorry about hijacking the thread
Happily on the road...,
