Brian's right. They are spendy.

Last summer, something got loose in mine, and when I backed up it blew a hole through the case. My only warning had been that about a week earlier, it didn't want to easily shift into reverse. I shifted into 1st, and then reverse, and then it seemed fine. One week later, kablooey.

A replacement was 2k$.

My last tranny for a Jeep was $25.

So I put in the 85-90 in my tranny when I re did the clutch - it's so stiff now I can hardly shift it until it warms up.

Did I do something wrong or can I use something else - I used the same and the diff fluid?

I use Redline 90w and the transmission shifts like a hot knife through butter at all temps. I did have to replace the rear transmission seal, not difficult, because it leaked slightly.

So is Redline 90 synthetic - can't get it here but I can get Valvoline or amsoil in 75-90 wt synthetic

I've never used those 2 oils in the transmission, so I can't recommend. Redline is available through Jegs on their website, just order some.

I've used Redline MTL90 (Manual Transmission Lube, I think it stands for) and it made the tranny shift much better in the winter and somewhat better during the summer.

Worth ordering.
